Although coming from a complete redesign in 2012, the 2013 BMW 6-Series enters the scene with a couple new body styles, new engines and an optional all-wheel-drive system. Most significantly, however, is the premiere of the 6-Series Gran Coupe, which mixes the low swooping 6-Series styling with a 4-door body.

The 4-door Gran Coupe is a full four inches longer than the Coupe. And although it sports 4 doors, it’s limited to only four passengers; BMW opting to trump the fifth seat for comfort. This is great news for those looking to get the 6-Series feel, but who need a little extra room inside.

In 2013, two engines are up for grabs in the U.S. – a 6-cylinder and an 8-cyliner. The 650i comes with a 4.4L turbocharged V8 going 0-60 in under 5 seconds. The 640i model is powered by a turbocharged 3.0L 6-cylinder going 0-60 in a claimed 5.4 seconds.

Moving from the engine to the interior, the 6-Series gets the latest technology from BMW standard. A 10.2-inch high-definition screen is the central hub for all things stereo, navigation and climate control, making for a very futuristic feel. The iDrive system is also standard as before.

And of course, no matter what you drive, you expect amazing safety features. Well the 2013 BMW 6-Series does not disappoint. With anti-lock brakes, traction control, an anti-skid system and curtain side and front side airbags, it’s sure to keep you plenty safe. Also available are rear and top view cameras, a full-color heads-up display, blind-spot alert and a lane departure warning. BMW’s Active Roll Stabilization is also available, which helps in tight cornering situations.
