How can customers view their footage?
To start, customers must create a My BMW account on bmwusa.com in order to view their video. As part of the account creation customers have to enter their X3 production/order number or VIN. If the customer already has a My BMW account, they simply need to add their new X3 production/order number or VIN as an additional vehicle to their account.

When is the video available to view?
The video is available through the customer’s My BMW account once the car reaches F2 status (ready to be shipped to the dealer). Then there are two scenarios that can occur:
1. A customer “custom orders” an X3 that is already on the way to the dealership. The customer then signs up for a My BMW account and enters the production/order number or VIN (provided to the customer once the purchase is complete). Or, the customer can add their production/order number or VIN to an existing My BMW account. In this case, F2 status was already reached so the customer will receive an email the next day that the video is available. This would also be the same situation if a customer bought an X3 off the lot.
2. An order is built from scratch and the dealer doesn’t have any allocation left. This order will only be processed when the dealer has new quota in the following month; a production slot is
assigned, etc. In this situation, it could be one month before the car is built and the video is available to the customer.
Can a customer download their video or share online?
Yes, customers can view the video an unlimited number of times. However, if a video is not watched for six months it will be deleted. Prior to the video being deleted, users will be notified via email one week in advance that his video will be removed from their My BMW account. That gives them one week to download it if he/she wants to keep it.
How else is the video being promoted?
- There is a promo on the X3 Build Your Own pages that lets users know “Every custom X3 is delivered with a video of its assembly in Spartanburg.”
- The Track My BMW section also has a promo announcing the plant video. It also links to the video.
